Marion County Solid Waste to Energy Facility at Brooks Oregon burns 550 tons of solid waste per day and 90 tons of infectious medical waste per month.

Marion county is considering importing up to 4 million pounds of medical waste each year from out of state.

Citizens are concerned about the impact on the water, air and soil in the area.

The League of Women Voters of Marion/Polk Counties will hold three community forums in early 2009, open to the public at no cost, to inform citizens on issues of solid waste management in Marion County and to solicit involvement in the decision making process:
